Contemporary, sustainable architecture grounded in clarity, precision, and human experience — an award-winning architecture studio based in Mexico.

ABOUT

Arquitectura Daniel Cota is a contemporary architecture studio with over 20 years of experience and more than 100 architectural designs across residential, hospitality, institutional, and educational sectors in Mexico.Founded by architect Daniel Cota Tirado, the practice focuses on sustainable, low-impact architecture rooted in material honesty, spatial clarity, and contextual sensitivity. We develop full-cycle projects — from concept to construction — with an emphasis on creating spaces that evoke emotion through light, proportion, and natural context. The studio has received six national architecture awards, including the Gold Medal at the Mexican Caribbean Architecture Biennale.

SELECTED PROJECTS

A selection of projects that represent the range and philosophy of our work — from off-grid hospitality and residential architecture to institutional buildings and masterplanning.
Several of these projects have been recognized with national architecture awards, reflecting a consistent approach grounded in clarity, sustainability, material honesty, and a deep respect for context.
Architecture that disappears when needed, stands with intention when required, and always seeks to create spaces that feel natural, timeless, and emotionally resonant.

GLASS 20.87

Award-winning off-grid hospitality project consisting of eight glass houses elevated above the jungle floor. Designed with a 6% footprint and built entirely by hand — without heavy machinery — to preserve the untouched landscape.Conceived as an experience of silence, light, and connection, the project remains under the natural canopy, keeping all structures on a single level in dialogue with the surrounding trees. A restrained material palette allows nature to become the main element.Fully off-grid through solar energy, natural ventilation, and biological water treatment systems. Recognized with the Gold and Silver Medals at the Mexican Caribbean Architecture Biennale 2020.

TREE60

Award-winning off-grid eco-community recognized with the Península Architecture Prize 2022. Designed around the idea of living in balance, the project develops only 8% of the land, preserving over 90% of the jungle and allowing the natural ecosystem to remain untouched.Conceived within a taller jungle canopy, Tree60 takes advantage of the existing shade to create double-height interiors and cool rooftop terraces that remain protected beneath the trees. Each residence is elevated 1.5 meters above ground, enhancing natural ventilation and minimizing impact on the soil.Built entirely by hand — without heavy machinery — and powered by solar energy and advanced water treatment systems, Tree60 offers an immersive experience in light, shadow, and vegetation, redefining contemporary nature-driven living.

GRAND CORAL RIVIERA MAYA GOLF CLUBHOUSE

Award-winning clubhouse recognized with the Silver Medal at the Mexican Caribbean Architecture Biennale 2015. Conceived as a natural extension of the terrain, the project merges architecture and landscape through sculpted grass ramps that blend seamlessly into the fairways.Built across two plots divided by the main access road, the design establishes continuity through a pair of bridges — one for users and another for golf carts — connecting the clubhouse with the practice tee and surrounding holes. Spanning 4,000 m², the project unfolds as two interconnected volumes that frame open views and maintain a constant dialogue with the surrounding landscape.

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

Our residential work is defined by clarity, proportion, and a deep respect for context — creating homes that feel timeless, personal, and intimately connected to their surroundings.
From compact urban houses to larger family residences, every project is built upon material honesty, efficient spatial organization, natural light, and a calm, contemporary atmosphere.
We approach each home as a living experience rather than a formal object, designing spaces that celebrate privacy, comfort, and the subtle transitions between indoors and outdoors.
The result: architecture that is warm, precise, and grounded in place.
